Our clients had a large unfinished attic and a growing family. The logical way to add finished square footage was to utilize this expansive space. The program was to add two bedrooms, two baths, and an office or common area. At first glance, it would be tight, but with the addition of long dormers on both sides of the gable roof, the space opened up nicely. Downstairs, a beautiful new staircase was added where a laundry closet once lived, and a small guest bedroom was converted into a large laundry room. The new staircase, adorned with two-story windows, now floods the existing first floor with plenty of light, and the new addition blends seamlessly into the existing home.
